Cold's Back...

 

It's been cooler, but it got cold again last night.  The heater was on & faucets were dripping.  It's expected. it's January.   Still doesn't mean I like it any.

We have shopping & then my roomie has some things to handle.  That's it as far as I know.  Next week will be busier again.  

It's still hard waking up in the morning.  The light's weird & the neighbors are noisy.  I end up waking too early, fall back asleep & then oversleep.   Fan's get really annoying, but they buffer a lot of noise.

Shared Issue...

 

There are many angles being researched in the fight against HIV/AIDS.  Improving the means to detect, treat, eradicate & hopefully cure the virus.  Including new & novel medications, gene therapy, stem cells, antibodies, various techniques, etc...  

These approaches vary,  but all share some issues.  HIV is a difficult problem to solve.  Research takes time, skill & funds.  The orange stain & his idiots have gutted funding.  Who knows how much damage this administration has done to HIV & medical research?  These were deliberate choices to bring harm to those with HIV & other illnesses.  

The shutdown may be ending.  I'm not sure what all this will mean.  The timeline for things is still unknown.  It'd be nice if it were now.

PS - Last night was the 1st night we went below freezing, had faucets dripping & had a stove on overnight.  Looks to be the same tonight.

Freezing & Rescheduled...

 

Yesterday's forecast was wrong.  It did not get above freezing.  The faucets have been dripping for days & I hate the noise.  It's better than busted pipes, but the noise is annoying.  It's supposed to snow tomorrow & into Friday morning.  Here's hoping we don't get what's in the forecast.  That could be a lot.

We did stuff we'd normally do today, yesterday.  We'll handle Friday's shopping today.  The only normal thing we'll do today is take the trash out & check mail.

We stopped by the furniture place yesterday & ordered a mattress.  I delayed the delivery of the other furniture.  It'll all come at the same time, around the 23rd.

We left the front stove on last night & I have regrets.  It's loud & kept waking me.  Heaters get to me after a while.  I woke with a bit of sore throat & stuffy nose.  The choice, do you want to be warm or do you want breathe?

Short & Plumbers....

 

Really short this morning.  There's just a bit before the plumbers are supposed to be here.  I'll get back tomorrow.  Hopefully, the faucet issue will be resolved.

Not A Fan Of Weekends...

 

That may sound weird, but I get very apprehensive about weekends.  That's when the crap tends to happen for me.  Specifically late Friday when everything is basically closed.  Then I have to wait to Monday to even start to try to get something done.

The bathroom faucet needs to be replaced.  It was cheap & now it's breaking.  Of course it's on the weekend.  Hopefully it can get us through til we can it fixed.  

I am really trying to be in a better place.  But when stuff like my SSI review & house stuff keeps breaking, it's hard.  I get tired of trying, because the line of crap never ends.  The only way this will end is when I do.  Whoever said all life is sacred, was full of it.  Life is cheap, at best mundane & tedious.   But most often it's awful, maddening, terrifying & exhausting.   It was not worth the ticket price.

Short Reprieve...

 

Yesterday was warmer & today looks to be the same.  By warmer, I mean into the 40s.  Tomorrow & Saturday will dip back to freezing with all day drips.   By Monday afternoon, we should be warm enough not to need drips every night.  

The snow, freezing & thaw have caused problems for the town's water.  People have busted pipes & it's affecting pressure & sometimes availability.  Fix that soon please.

Other than that, there isn't much going on around here.   Take care.

Freezing Hell Days...

 

I know other places get & are colder than us.  I also don't care.  That's not my problem.  My problem is the next several days that will never get above freezing.  Days of having the faucets run in hopes of staving off frozen pipes.  We're doing a grocery run in a bit.  It's supposed to snow later.

Normally, we'd shop tomorrow, but there could be snow on the roads.   Besides that, there won't be any mail due to MLK day.  I'm glad the mail couriers will mostly avoid the bad stuff, at least in my area.  

My only worry is getting through this without things screwing up.  The outdoor cats are staying mostly somewhere else.  I feed them when I can.   Right now leaving water out is almost useless.  It freezes pretty quickly.  I hope they have a warm place.  I don't know where they're holing up.  I've done what they'll let me.

Drips...

 

We had to leave the taps dripping last night.   They're aren't the only dripping either.   So far this year has had a lot of heaters, fuzzy blankets, people burning things & pollen.  All of these have irritated my nose & it's been sneezy & runny for a bit.  There really isn't anything I like about Winter or cold weather. 

We have to go shopping in a bit.  It's supposed to warm up some this afternoon.  That's been nice, but it won't last.  It is still January & February is lurking just around the corner.  It'll be at least mid March before we have consistently better weather.  Then they're will Spring issues like more pollen & storms.

Goodish & Tired...

 

A friend stopped by yesterday & we got some things  done that needed to be handled.  It was a good visit, but we're not used to having people over.  It lasted long than I'm used to & we ate a little later.  

About the time I'm heading to bed, the sinks clog & need to be fixed.  It's handled for now, but who knows how long my fix will last.  After all of  that, I was a bit wired & it took me forever to get to sleep.  Thanks to the cat,  I didn't stay asleep well either.  At some point she decided to howl in my ear & got sent flying off the bed.  

So far it's  bright  morning, but I'm tired.  Here's hoping I can handle today.

Hurried Grey Morning...

 

In a bit of a hurry this morning.   I need to get cleaned up & get out the door to go shopping.  It's supposed  to start snowing in a few hours & keep at all afternoon.  The ground's too warm for it to stick much.  Still, we'd rather be back inside before it gets serious about dumping snow on us.  It's the warmest it'll get today & it's freezing.  The faucets will be dripping all day.

Cold Friday...

 

It's not as cold as it's going to get, but last night was the 1st time we had to leave faucets dripping this season.  It's already warming up.  We'll be above freezing for the next several days.  For now, it's cold. At least the sun's shining.

We have to go shopping & I need to get a shower.  This will be it for now.  There weren't any new articles topics.  I guess I'm caught up for a bit.

Wet 4th....

Happy 4th of July to all those who celebrate it.  If not happy 4th to you as well.   It's a wet day here.  We had quite a storm last night & the rainfall was significant.  Maybe it'll keep people from setting fields on fire with their fireworks.

We did some shopping this morning.  Normally, we would've paid bills, but everything we need is closed for the holiday.  That's been put off until tomorrow.

We're probably going to need a plumber.    The kitchen sink is draining very slowly.  I plunged it & it's working a bit better for now.  Who knows how long that'll hold.  I'd  rather call the plumber than have a tub full of crap water & then have to call the plumber anyway.

Tired Sigh & The Kitchen Sink...

The sayings supposed to be, "Everything but the kitchen sink."  My life didn't hear that, "but".  The sink started  noticeably leaking last night. It'd probably been leaking for while within the housing.

I hate anything to with pipes, leaks & plumbers.  If somehow you get through it without spending a fortune,  the process is usually sheer hell.  We went to Wal-Mart & they no longer carry the really cheap faucets & I had to go for 1 about $15 than I wanted to spend.  

We got back.  The old faucet fought some coming off.  The new 1 seems to have installed well enough.  I'm holding off on verdicts of success on this matter for a while.  

I'm starting to feel better.  I didn't need to be under a sink, but we had no idea how long it'd be before this little leak turned into a geyser   At least it's done & we got post holiday, Valentine candy on sale.  Go us!
