Stupidity & Recoup Take 2...

 

I'm not going to cite this, it's everywhere online.  The topic of vampire facials is back.  To start with, what a stupid concept.  People are trusting beauty "professionals" with who knows how little actual training or licensing to perform risky treatments on them.  This facial involves your face, micro needles & human blood.  Even if this didn't sound sketchy, why would you let anyone near you with needles & blood from some unknown source.  If it isn't a recognized medical office, how are they getting that blood?  Was it tested?  Now people who had no other known risks for the virus are turning up HIV+.  The concept was desperate, risky & stupid.

Hopefully Optimum can keep it's crap together & we can go about our lives.  I need a bit more recovery time to back to normal.  The weather's crap, my stress has been high & we've been busy.  Screw Optimum for sucking & adding more stress to my life.

Appointment & Assorted...

I have to head out in less than 3 hours.  I still have to eat & get around.  I was hoping June would be better than May, so far that's not the case.  There's still a lot of drama & stress.

Besides getting hot, I have to drive to Tulsa for a neuro appointment that was nearly postponed because a primary care provider's office decided to show it's ass.   Then there was drama  getting that fixed.   Of course, it had to be handled right in the middle of everything else.

As COVID & BLM continue, there's a lot of stress.  At least some initial reports are suggesting the spread of COVID by asymptomatic people is rare.  That's not saying it can't happen, but it's less likely.  

In face of BLM, IBM is ending it's facial recognition software.   Groups have been after companies to kill these programs off & stop selling them to cops.  IBM feels there are better ways to use technology to mend racial divides.   That could be true or it could all be a PR bluff while they sell their program to another manufacturer.   Who knows?

HIV Facials...

This post is probably better suited for October.   There is a type of spa treatment called a vampire facial/facelift.  It draws the clients blood & spins it thin.  Then the skin is either micro-needled or micro-abraded After the skin is prepared, perforated, the blood mixture is spread across the face.  It's supposed to act as a facial & filler.  

I'm not giving any citations, because none of the articles actually say anything.  But, it is suspected someone may have contracted HIV via this procedure.  It's thought this process could spread bloodborne pathogens, like hepatitis.   There are  many steps where this process could go wrong.  I'd consider it  moderately risky even in a perfectly sterile environment.  

As of yet, nothing has been stated absolutely.  The investigation into this procedure is ongoing.  Be safe, don't play with blood.
