There's A Word For This...

 

So much of the last few years can be viewed the same.  From the behavior of politicians, the courts, idiots with guns, the police...  From the actions of companies like Netflix, movie makers or nations like Russia, there's words for this.  Alleged parent's groups want a stranglehold on everything.  Lately the weather has fallen into this category & my roomie likes a word for this, "Disrespectful."

That's the problem with almost everything these days, everything is disrespectful.  Politicians & courts screw the people.  Idiots with guns & the police revel in violence then whine when they're questioned.  Companies piss on us & tell us it's needed rain.  Anti abortion groups are willing to screw HIV funding to allegedly strike down abortion & trans.  Countries around the world only thrive on destruction.

At least those things could be helped.  Most likely, they won't be, but they could be.  The weather could've been helped a decade ago.  I'm not so sure now.  Enjoy the shitty, disrespectful world we made.

Science Won't...

 

I've come across a few articles lately, that while aggravating, are accurate.  Science won't end COVID, it  hasn't & won't end HIV.  HIV may be incurable, but we've had the means to test, treat & contain it for decades.   Hasn't meant a damn thing in ending  HIV.  It's lowered the fatality rates, but the virus continues to be spread even now.

The same is true with COVID.   We've had the means  to lessen the spread & impact of this virus for a bit now.  It isn't ending this outbreak.

Yes,  science will impact the spread of these illnesses.  But, not enough.  It takes money, a lot of money.  Even with the funds, it takes the willingness of the population.  The group has to be willing to listen, learn & face the problem in a logical manner.  Little of this was accomplished with HIV.  Even less headway has been made with COVID.  Violent, angry indulged ignorance has been the chosen path for many when facing COVID & those trying to fight it.   These people choose violence, hate,  idiocy & conspiracy theories over the facts.  Again, they have made a virus an ideological matter.  A thing of religion & politics. 

Science can't & won't end HIV or COVID.  There are too many stupid, violent indulgent people in the world.  Do your best to keep yourself safe, no one  else will.  Take care.

Fickle, Distracted, In Need Of Drama...

As a nation we're a magician's dream.  With a little prattling, razzle-dazzle & we'll look anywhere & believe/oppose almost anything.  We have the attention span of a gnat.

At the beginning of the year we were into an impeachment, a British prince & Australian wildfires.  Then COVID came on the scene & we were in denial & then angry about how it was handled.  There were protests againsts masks, stimulus issues & social distancing.   That's just a quick glance at the 1st 5 months of 2020.

Now we're dealing with cop violence & reactionary riots.   There's lootings, violence & agitation.   This looks like it, the big thing that could bring change.  Trump's hiding & fist-waving.  Biden's talking to people.  But what about next week?

Soon, some people who think they've worked this drama for all it's worth, will find another.    Then they'll protest over that.   Rampaging, rioting, violent belittling, judging & accusing are the new sports of our culture.  Smoking, drinking & eating fatty foods may be bad for you.  But maybe they were giving people other ways to vent.  A lot of them only rage now.  It's their new drug & they like it.

HIV & Violence...

I've posted a lot about marginalization & higher risks of contracting HIV.  There's little more disenfranchising than being an abused women in a society that cares little for anyone not fortunate enough to be born male.  I've read numerous articles over the years about how women in places we deem lesser are constantly targeted by violent men, often their husbands.    They are beaten, abused & raped.  They have no control or autonomy.  These savages wage physical & emotional war on these women & then to add insult to injury they infect them with a myriad of diseases, including HIV.

You might think I'm talking about Africa, India or even some Southeast Asian country.   Technically, I was reacting to an article about Africa where over a 1,000 women are infected daily with HIV.  But, it's anywhere women are treated as lesser.  It's anywhere violence against women occurs without serious penalty.  It's everywhere these brutal men are allowed to continue breathing after their 1st act of aggression. Because, hey, it was a only a woman, not even a woman, just a girl.

The only way this will ever stop in these places is simple, scarily so.  The only way to stop the nightmare these women endure is to end the lives of those who would bring harm to them & theirs.   Is that awful to say?  Maybe, but ti's true.

This 1 Time...

This is the only I'll address this matter on this blog.  There was a mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida.  Not, just a mass shooting, but the biggest in US history.  The shooter is dead, the garbage is out the door.  His name is known, but I'm not going to give him the credit of calling him that here.  He was a cowardly ass who planned an attack on a nightclub, right before closing time.   This man was weak & barely worth being called human.  

The monster was slain, but the casualties are numerous & the damage will be hard to overcome.  The villain's father is proclaiming this had nothing to do with Islam.  He thought his son was homophobic.   His ex-wife told of how abusive he was.  He claimed ties to terrorists.  Enough so, he was on a watch list.  He declared loyalty to such a group before he began his rampage.

This was about hate.  This was about stigma.  This was about how the world still views gays as someone they should be able to just kill on a whim.  This was about this man's issues with homosexuality, but it was also about his upbringing.  His culture & religion got him to the point where he found this action acceptable & appropriate.  

Hell, maybe he just wanted to go out semi-famous.  Maybe he was competing with the jerk who killed the singer from The Voice in Orlando the day before.  Hopefully, this won't spark a 1-up type of thing.  

This is about hate, grubbiness & fear.  May his next life be that of a worm.  Then at least he'd be useful.
