Hello Spring...

Spring is starting off cold.  It looks to be warmer for the duration of the forecast.  But we've been here before.  I hope the cold is behind us.  I'd like for some of the dark to be as well.  I may not get either.

I really get irritated when people tell you not to be so anxious, nervous or stressed.  Especially when your  entire life has been full of stressful, nervy, anxiety inducing things.  The only times I ever remember not being in those states was when I was overwhelmed by sensory input & my mind had to focus on the moment.  If I was at a skating rink, dance club, amusement park, concert I could be present.  The pulsing, rhythmic, flashes & movement could keep me focused.  If not my mind was spinning off to the next disaster looming around the bend.  The problem was the parties do end & the crap is just around the corner.  There's always a shoe waiting to drop.

Anytime I can try to reduce stressors I do.  I get irritated when things pile on.  I understand life is stressful, but it doesn't all have to be every minute of every day.  What really sucks is that me nor mine hardly ever are the actual cause of the stress.  It's someone else's mess hitting us.

To all the perky, existentialist touting their self destiny, control & toxic positivity; please just shut up & die.  As promptly as you could would be appreciated.   Either you are lying or you're in a luxurious bubble most people will never get near.  You're either manipulative, delusional or naive.  Whatever it happens to be for you, just leave the rest of us alone.  We don't want the crazy you're selling.  We're full up with our own.

Rant's over.  Hello Spring.  Try to be pleasant & bright.  I don't need more dark or drama.  That's all, take care.

Complete...

When it comes to treating HIV, many promote a more complete treatment plan.  They go beyond the medical,  social & nutritional needs of a client.  They look at the more personal, spiritual & perhaps environmental needs of the person.

All of these are important & can lead to very successful plans.  However they can go too far.   Would  it  be  nice to have people around who were  also HIV+?   Yes, but only if not every word out of their mouths wasn't about HIV or slathered in toxic positivity.

The problem with any treatment plan is simple.  There are no best-for-all plans.   Some people will need a lot of hand holding.  Other people will hate it.   Some will want a lot spirituality, some won't. Same goes for  every aspect of treatment.  Nothing will work for  everyone, not even the meds.

A good plan takes the individual into account & is tailored where it can be.  There may be many alterations to get to a good point.  The primary thing any plan needs is honest, transparent conversation between clients & providers.  You can be happy, but sometimes all that sunshine & lollipop business can be too much.

Happy Solstice...

The Solstice is here, may good things come to us all this Yuletide.  Fall is gone & Winter has arrived arrived.   Here's to the Holly King, may he not stay long.

There are only 4 days until Christmas & 10 left in this year.  What are you going to do with them?   Past the new year, this blog & my HIV have an anniversary.   It's funny what winds up defining your life.

So say goodbye to Autumn & greet the new season.  Make as much peace as you can with 2021.  Soon, it will be a memory.   Look at me, trying to be positive in a post.  Weird, huh?  Take care.

Staying Positive...

I read a lot of articles over HIV.  2 things always come to mind.  1st, these articles drive home how universal  & global this epidemic is.  2nd, no matter how many astounding articles I read over advancements, discoveries & triumphs involving HIV & those people living it, there are always those articles by jack-asses spreading misery.

I don't always talk about the global articles I read.  I try to keep it more local.  Though, sometimes the global articles are very relevant.   I do my best to steer clear of the political & smear articles.  They solve nothing & only add to the negativity already present in this world.  I don't need to add to it as well.

I'm normally not all that Norman-Vincent-Pealeish, but I do believe your attitude effects your life & your health.  I do my best to stay away from the cites I know are just going to upset, frustrate or anger me.  I avoid conservative/religious crap like the plague.  I don't think those people believe half of what they say, they just like to rile people.  They do what they do for ratings, outrage & to cover up their own issues.

Here are some bits of advice I have on the matter....

  • George Bernard Shaw said, "Never wrestle with a pig... you get dirty & the pig likes it."
  • Robert Heinlein said, "Never try to teach a pig to sing, it wastes your time & annoys the pig."
  • Most of all try to keep positive, it can only help you & bewilder those who would bring you down.

Black Or White...

I'm a pretty avid believer in the shades of grey in almost in any situation.  However, sometimes you either or you're not, it's on or off, right or left or you are are not pregnant.  It seems these are the places where people most like to debate.

POZ  just covered a study by Oregon State University, Monogamy.  "40 percent of heterosexual couples ages 18 to 25 who discussed monogamy, one partner said the couple agreed to be sexually exclusive while the other partner said there was no such agreement."  Either you had an agreement or you didn't or someone is just lying or being delusional about the relationship.

The study, "Also found that among couples in which both partners agreed to monogamy, nearly 30 percent had sex with at least one partner outside of the relationship."   One out of three people can't commit to a monogamous relationship or just can't grasp the concept.

Monogamy  is not a difficult concept to understand.  So what's going on here; empty promises, assumptions or the end of an archaic concept?  I'm not trying to say you should or should not be monogamous.  I don't really care that much about your sex life.  What I am saying is that with this info out there, it is beyond time to wake up & smell the proverbial coffee.

If you are having sex with ANYONE , then you need to use a condom.  Even Cookie can do it

Don't give me that, but I trust him/her BS.  How is that going to help you when you get your HIV test back & it is +?  There is no such thing as safe sex, only safer.  Your choices are try to play safe or don't be surprised when you get your...

At least red pretty much goes with anything.
