Chance of Meh...

Even though rainfall averages have been passed, the weather feels the need for more storms.  There's chances for them all day.  The skies will be dark & there may be thunder, but there's not supposed to be much rain, just a lot of meh.

A lot of articles for months now have been about a single topic, funding.  The US's $ stunt has jeopardized the entire world's fight against HIV.  I hope the rest of the world figures out a way to operate completely  independent of US cash.   Maybe then, this country could be treated like it should be & left in a corner like a bad child.  For the sake of egos, wealth & politics, this administration is willing to let the world burn.  To hell with every MAGA, orange asshat & conservative.

The 5th...

There'll still be lingering fireworks for a bit, but the holiday has passed.  It wasn't all that great either.  Each year the fireworks get smellier, smokier & do less.  When we 1st moved to this house, we could sit on the porch & watch the show.  It'd easily clear the treetops by 2 - 3 times.   There'd a loud rumble boom & then the lights.  Then unfortunately, the smoke.  Each year, the lights in the sky got lower & the treetops obscured more of the show.  Last night, unless I looked at a very specific angle, the fireworks were completely concealed by the trees.  The booms were louders & the air was filled with more smoke & odors, but the lights were hidden.

Just like with everything else, the show has gotten more expensive.  While the event happened, the pyrotechnics were much lower quality.  They paid as much or more for the show & got less each passing year.  In a few years, it'll just be sparklers on a podium.

All the 4th brought us was noise, litter & smoke.  My head is dealing with the aftermath this morning.  My eyes, nose & throat are hating it.  Glad this only happens once a year.

On to other news, this article, actually an abstract from the National Library of Medicine of the NIH.  Deals with the idea that even if a cure for HIV were found, it wouldn't solve everything for those living with the virus.   This is something I've personally thought & worried about.  They made 4 points.  1) a cure for HIV would not deal with health damage already incurred from or exacerbated by the virus.  2) you'd still have to deal with the stigma of being the person who had HIV.  This could make reentering "normal"  life difficult or impossible; try finding a job after a decade with no work experience due to being HIV+.  3) People who were cured could lose all public assistance leaving them more economically vulnerable.  4) There's no guarantee a cure would be available to everyone.  Without the means to aid people who've been living with HIV for years of decades, a cure could be more problematic than the virus.

That's it for now.  Hope you had a good holiday.  Give the article a read.  Take care.

Meh Sunday Morning...

It's hazy this morning after storming last night.  For all the noise, it didn't rain much.  It's looking like we'll a little short on rainfall for the month.   The beginning of April will probably be as dark & wet.  That'll be great, start the 1st of the month stuff in the rain.

I'm still a little wrecked from the last few days.  Yesterday could've been better, if not for the jolty wake up.  It'd been nice if this month ended better, but that won't happen.

Take care.

Meh Morning...

I know some people love this time of year & think it's  the best.  Simply put, they're wrong.  This time of year is dismal, cold & off putting.

We need to deal with shopping & that's about it.  There's a chance for wintry weather this afternoon.   Here's hoping we don't get any of it.  As far as I'm concerned, I'd tell you festivity has left the building, except I wasn't that festive to begin with.

That's all for now.  Take care.

Almost...

I'm trying hard not to be in meh mood.   I woke a little around 6 & then again right before 8 as the trash truck went by our house.  It was bright & sunny.  Less than an hour later it's back to being dismal.  This BS is being hard on me.

I come across articles occasionally talking about how the fight against HIV has faltered.  The researchers admit  the numbers are way lower than they had been historically, but not low enough to signal any further significant decline in the population living with HIV.

Even with all the advancements, awareness,  education, condoms & PrEP, it's still holding about the same.  In places like the USA, this can't entirely be  blamed on the medical or drug industry.  The researchers have done their part.

The pandemic drove things back.  Mostly, this seems to be unwillingness or inability of some people to protect themselves or others from HIV.  There are still people who don't care, bug chasers & intentional infectors out  there.

In the end, you have to do all you can do to remain safe.  You won't always succeed, but we can do better.  if  we don't, HIV isn't  going anywhere.

Meh Monday Morning....

This morning is meh right now.  It  could be a lot worse, but it could also be better.  It could be brighter & that'd help a lot.   But that doesn't look likely to happen.  I thought with a new president articles might pick up.  Maybe everyone is a recovery mode & things will pick up in a bit.

We need to  go shopping, so this is it.   Take care & stay sane in all this grayness.

Meh...

I'm not feeling great this morning, not too bad either.  It's just a meh morning.  The sun's not shining.  The weather is still weirdly cool & allergies are awful.  I woke feeling slightly off & a little dehydrated.  I'll probably be fine in a couple of hours, but for now, meh.

I didn't find any new or even newish articles.  We have to go shopping in a bit.  Hopefully that will go smoothly & then we can head home.  I'm already low on energy today.

Take care.

Another Friday...

I'm a little zapped right now.  I had to go shopping this morning.  Normally, that isn't a very physically taxing thing.  However, I was already a little wheezy due to allergies.  Then I got to Walmart, which seemingly doesn't turn on it's AC anymore.  The place was sweltering.  I opened a cooler door to get something & condensation just poured off of it onto the floor.

By the time I was getting out of the store, I was shot.  I was hot & not having an easy time catching my breath.   We finally made it home & I got cleaned up & ate.  I'm starting to feel better, but not great.

This is just another 1 of those things I have to deal with now.  This is another place where my HIV & other circumstances collide & knock me for a loop.  The allergens weren't horrid.  The temperature wasn't that hot.  The humidity was high, but not awfully so.  The store wasn't that busy.   But all those things combined was a bit of an overload for me at that moment.  You can't really count for those things.  Still they happen.  Tomorrow, could be exactly the same & I could handle it fine.  I just never know.  That's another thing that really sucks about being +, the uncertainty.
