Not Much Saturday...

Yesterday went mostly as planned.  The only issue was the delivery with my meds on it was late to the pharmacy.  I'll have to pick them up on Monday.  Other than that, the day was alright.  It was darker than we'd like & it eventually rained a bit.  The rain we need, not so much the dark.

My seasonal blahs seem to have been contagious.  For a while during the holidays, people near us would decorate their homes fairly well.  Bit by bit, that's faded.  Some of them may have moved or passed on.  The amount of holiday decor & lights has definitely diminished.   I wish it hadn't.  The lights are probably my favorite part of the holiday season.  Still the sense of holiday spirit has been dwindling for years.  I think it was replaced by politics, religions, hate & brattiness.

For those still putting up holiday lights, thank you.

Take care.

Fall Opening...

The 1st month of Autumn has passed.  It wasn't very pleasant.  It mostly acted like a tepid Summer.  All the previous season's issues continued; it was hot, there was yard work, there were bugs, etc...  The only Fallish thing we  got were the weird temperature shifts & the darkness, nothing good.  So far, Fall is failing.

I'm always out of step with things.  As I got to where holidays weren't such an issue for me, people started stepping away from them.  Over the last decade, there's been a decrease in Holiday spirit.  Everything has slowly waned;  the decor, music, specials, events...  Christmas music used to drive me crazy when I'd go shopping.  Slowly it faded.  I think I heard a couple of songs last year at Walmart & that was it.

I'm not a big holiday person.  But if everybody else  is losing their interest as well, what does that say?  Are we losing wonder, dreams, merriment, awe, anticipation...?   If so, nothing good seems to be replacing them.

So far, Autumn is bombing & the pre holiday season is a dud.

Spirit...

Living with HIV can be overwhelming.  You'll wonder why am I doing this.  There will be days when you're certain you made the wrong choice.  Having things lift your spirit is important.  It's why SAD can be devastating.

I look out my windows a lot at the plants & animals.  They can make me smile.   Red birds & squirrels are flitting about this morning.  Occasionally, I get to read about other things that make it feel there's still some good will left.

I read about 3 instances this week:

  1. A young girl sold cookies & cocoa to raise money to pay off lunch debt at her school.
  2. A church bought a parking lot & hired security so people living in their cars could have a safe place to park.
  3. An LA church paid off over $5 million in medical debts affecting over 5,000 households.
They not affect me or even be near.  At least it shows there are some people left in the world helping where they can.  It shows that local care will always beat some far off charity in whatever-land.   Give local, tend to your own backyard & you might be amazed at the outcome.
