High & Low Point Uggh...

 

I have an article & some crappy news.  I'll start with the article.  GlaxoSmithKline & ViiV Healthcare are have released a long acting injection of of Cabotegravir, sold as Cabenuva.  This news has been out for a bit.  It's a bimonthly injection given at the doctor's office for treating HIV.  They're currently working to extend the time between doses.  However, the news is that they're trying to have this medication be something that is self administered at home every 3 months.  They'd like to see that by the end of the decade.   This is doable.  The base meds are there.  With a little improvement & using current at home injection pens, this could happen.

On to the crap news.  At this moment, I no longer have a primary care physician.  I called to confirm my upcoming Monday appointment (it was the Wednesday before) & was told he had taken medical leave, retired & was not coming back into the office.  Now, I'm scrambling to find a new doctor.  It will probably be a nurse practitioner since there are very few actual doctors left in my area.  I have some ideas, but I'm not sure at this time.  I didn't need this stress.

That's my life at the moment.  More stress & another long term relationship ending without so much as a good bye.

Concerns...

 

I saw a few articles today over important topics.  Each piece concerned what some might consider less developed countries.  They presented their cases why we should be concerned, if not outraged, over the lack of action concerning HIV in these areas.  

We should be concerned with people not receiving HIV care.  However, I can't be overly involved in a situation half a world away.  I can't be concerned when there are places in our country, as economically depressed.   Places where little help comes, because this is the US.  Places where conservative, religion zealots denounce & reject federal monies to fight AIDS, because of their beliefs.

While I'm sympathetic to people in other lands dealing with HIV.  I'm more concerned with what's nearly right on my doorstep.  I have to wonder how long it will keep its distance.  How long before it's a direct threat to me.  Those people in far off lands are an abstract.  Actions in southern states like Tennessee are a reality.  Memphis is just over 300 miles away.  These other places are 1,000's of miles away across oceans.

Stop telling me how well I have it.  Stop telling me to focus on issues around the world, when danger is so much closer.  Don't ask me to sacrifice my well being for people across the world.  I won't do it.

At Home...

 

We're back home & I'm glad  to be out of that hotel.  It's a former Days Inn that someone let go to pot.  The wi-fi & AC were good, everything else was pretty off.   The hard ass beds were horrible.

So we're back & now it's time to clean out the fridge & freezer.  Lost almost everything. There goes a lot of  cash.  I hate our power company.  The street level people are fine, but the others are best useless.  These power outages happen every Summer.  This company could do a lot better by its  customers.
