Maybe Not As Much...

 

We handled the car yesterday, it was pricey.  Our new glasses arrived.  My prescription barely altered, so I haven't noticed much of a difference.  My roomie says her's is a fairly notable change. 

There's a couple of errands today & that should be it.  Tomorrow's plans fizzled due to a friend's schedule.  That's OK, it can be a nothing day.

My keyboard or something may be screwing up.  It wasn't responding last night.  It seems fine this morning.  We'll see how things go.

Bye September...

 

I'm happy to say this is it for September.  It's never a good month for, me but this year was just so extra.  Too bad a lot of the month's ick will fall into October.  It'd be nice for this stuff to get handled & October to be as drama free as possible.

Weird light, allergies & early appointments have worn me out.  My roomie has some stuff scheduled in just a bit, so this is it.  BTW, got the eye exam & new glasses ordered.   The new script is nearly the same as it was, but slightly weaker.

Some Progress...

 

Yesterday was hotter & we were out in it.  It didn't do wonders for how I felt.  Still, we managed to get some things handled.   The van is at the mechanics & will be most of the day.   We got the mail & our glasses were in.  We have new glasses with slightly altered prescriptions.  Neither of our scripts changed much.  

I'll have to get blood work next week.  My telemedicine appointment is in 3 weeks, just a few days after my birthday.  That's about as much as I have planned.

August is turning out to be busy & hot.  Neither aspect was wanted, still here they are.  That's it for now, take care.

2nd Attempt...

 

The rain's over for a bit & we passed the month's rainfall average.   The heat's returning & will probably be here the remainder of the month.  Maybe it'll dry things out a bit.  That might help with the aches.

This afternoon, we'll take the van back to the mechanics again.  I called to make sure the appointment was on this time.   Our glasses should be in at the mail place.

I got my license renewed with the Real ID.  I haven't got it yet, this has to be mailed to you.  That's new.  They usually just hand the new license over to you there.  I've got my old card & a print out of a temporary license until then.  It should be here within 30 days.

Goodbye July & Done For Now...

 

This is the end of July 2024.  It's on to the last month of my birth year.  This month wasn't horrible, but it certainly wasn't fun.  It was hot, humid & often too stressful.  It came in hot & that's the way it's going out.

Yesterday was busy & tiring.  We took the van to the mechanic.  It got partially fixed.  It has to go back in next week for a big maintenance job.  Just about everything that can leak, does.  Maybe after that, the van drama will be settled for a while.

Our eye exams went easy enough.   New glasses have been ordered.  They'll take a while to get here.  The van & exam took up our day, then we were hot & worn out.

Last Weekend...

 

May is just about over, this is Memorial Day Weekend.  The good news is it's warming up & it's a bit brighter.  We've caught up with everything.  The yard work is handled.   

May has been more stressful than it should've been.  I'm not sad to see it go.  Everything feels like it just wants to push all the buttons.  It seems causing problems & stress is the only goal.

Our new glasses got in yesterday.  All the things are handled for now.  That's all for today, take care.

Mid Month Thursday...

 

It's a mid May Thursday & we had some plans, but they didn't come together.  That's OK, everyone involved probably needed a break.   Trash is gone for the week. I handled the van's tags yesterday & managed to get glasses ordered.   So far this is do nothing day.

Next Day...

 

Not much going on here.  The eye exam went well.  I'll order glasses today.  They cancelled my frames, but I found some similar.  

I confirmed my doctor appointment for next Monday.    It's a routine visit. I had to order cat food.   Walmart might get it back in before I run out, but they might not.  If they do, I'll probably buy extra.  I hate hoard & stash buying.  That's all for now.

Dark, Wet & Appointment...

 

This will be brief, I don't trust the net or the electricity.  It's dark & there are thunderstorms, great wake up.   It isn't supposed to last long.  Then we have to go to an  eye appointment.  It's been a bit.   That's all for now.

1st Of The Year...

 

It got hot enough yesterday for the AC.  It's not supposed to be as  warm today, we'll see.  I have an appointment next Tuesday for an eye exam.  I'm seeing alright, but my glasses are old & probably need an adjustment.   There isn't much else going on  here, so this is it for now.

Dubious...

Yesterday left me a more winded than I expected.  We hit several places & the trip went well.  I had my eye appointment.  I have to say, I'm a little iffy about the results.  According to the exam, my eyesight improved a bit.  I called the office to check on the numbers.  I was told that was my reading at the time.  I ordered a pair of glasses. We'll see if this is the right prescription of not.  Luckily, my glasses are fairly cheap.  I'll have to wait until the glasses get here to check.

Windy Tuesday Morning...

It's dry & windy, we're under a red flag warning & were yesterday as well.  As long as we stay like this, the warning will remain.   For those unfamiliar with the term, it's a fire danger warning.   Under these conditions, it's easy for a grass/wild fire to start & difficult to extinguish.  Winds push the flames & carry burning ash & embers.  

Between that & the very high pollen levels, my eyes are shot.  I can't tell if I'm adjusting to these new glasses or not.   Up close, everything's a blur.  My eyes are sticky.  Time for more allergy drops.

Outside my window are the 1st flowering bushes of the year.  A little bush with yellow flowers & a snowball bush.  The dogwoods are starting to bloom.  Soon, they'll be flowery, white pillars.  All of this pretty, along with the ground flowers, like clover.  But all of it is also pushing pollen into the air.  

I'd say hello again pollen season, but's not like you ever really left.

Newness...

OK, this morning has been a little different.   Last night my roomie got into a spat with the floor & it won.  She took quite a bit of hit from it.  I was solo this morning for bill paying & shopping.  It went well enough, but the wind was awful & my allergies were killing my eyes & breathing.   After several errands, I got home & I'm a little winded.

Stopped by the mail box & picked  up our new glasses.  Finally, they arrived.  The new prescription is close, but my eyes are still hating it.  They will for a while.   The frames are the same, but the lenses are slightly thinner.   I'll adjust to them.

Labs & Glasses...

I got my labs  & new glasses in today.  I had to run a few errands & I needed to get my lab results before I go to Tulsa on the 19th.  I stopped by the store as well.  This stop dealt with everything on my holiday gift list except for little candies I'll put in the packages like candy canes, coal & the like.

My glasses are here.  That's  a week faster than the last order.  They fit well.  The prescription changed very little, but I can tell it.  It'll take a bit for me get used to them.  Yeah Zenni Optical, 2 pairs with transitions for $60 counting shipping. 

My HIV tests are good.  I also had a thyroid test & a lipid panel.  Parts of the lipid panel were high, as were parts of the thyroid test.  I asked the receptionist if the doctor wanted to see me sooner.  She called me back & said the doctor felt that although my numbers were high, they weren't that off & I could wait to see him in January.  Hopefully, this won't mean any more meds, but it might. I guess I'll find out in January.

Overall, it's been a good, productive morning.

November...

November is here.  This week will be filled with 1st of the month stuff.  It can be a bit hectic, but once it's done, we're in the clear for a month.  

I'm very thankful for the 1st day post Daylight Saving Time.  That extra hour really does have an impact on my sleep.  More light in the morning made it far easier to wake up & get around.  

My glasses are ordered.  I use Zenni Optical.  They're very affordable for us & I don't have to worry about breaking an expensive pair of glasses I couldn't afford to replace.   Only downside being their slow processing & delivery.   But, at these prices I can be patient.  My roomie will be up next.

I had a good experience with this optometrist.   I didn't with the last guy, he was beyond brusque.  I'm surprised at my age, I didn't need bifocals/progressives.  My prescription had only slightly changed & the doctor doesn't think I'll need bifocals any time soon.  Yeah for me.

The Day After...

I posted yesterday about the arrival of my glasses from Zenni Optical.  The fit is a bit weird, but that's always the case with new glasses for me.  They're so much lighter than my old pair, even though the lenses are slightly thicker.  

It's being a bit odd getting accustomed to the new lenses.  The left eye is fine, but the right eye is feeling a little strange.  There was a notable change in strength on the left & a notable change in astigmatism in the right.  Apparently, getting used to the cylinder change is harder than than the spherical.

I'm sure I'll get used to them, it usually takes me a few days.  Still, I'm happy with them so far.  I just hope that holds.  I think it will.

Zenni...

OK, time for a little product placement.   My glasses just got in today.  I ordered them from Zenni Optical.   I had ordered a back-up pair from them in the past.  That pair cost me under $20 US.  I recently had an eye exam & my prescription had shifted.  It wasn't drastic, but it was enough to need new glasses.  Besides my old pair has been on death's door for over a year.

The exam cost me just under $60.  I went home knowing I really couldn't afford a pair from the place I usually get them. So, I opted to return to Zenni.  I really wanted 3 pairs.  I wanted a photochromatic pair, a tinted pair for driving & a plain back-up pair.  I didn't think I'd be able to get all 3 pairs.  I was wrong.  

Including shipping, the entire for 3 sets of glasses was just at $58.  My back up pair was just under $10.  The tinted pair was under $15.  The daily wear, photochromatic pair was about $29 with shipping being at $5.  

I won't tell you these glasses are the same quality as my old pair, but I've had worse.  Those came from  a cheap, chain glasses shop in a strip mall.  Watch TV & you'll see adds for those type places.  They also play fast & loose with pricing.  What you see, is not what you get.  

So far, so good.  It's dreary, so I can't tell how well the photochromatics are going to work yet. All in all, I'm happy with them.  If they break, I'll know what not to order next time & have a back-up pair for the duration.  Not to mention, another single pair would be under $30.  I'll probably be able to afford that.  To this point, I'd recommend Zenni.

Have some rather impromptu errands to run.  Not much time to write today.  I might actually get an eye exam.  It's been a few years since I had 1.  Then I'll just order some glass glasses from Zenni.

31st...

It's the last day of the month.  Sort of sad.  I like October & this takes us deeper into the dreaded holiday season.  It's like being in a boat heading towards a waterfall with no motor or paddles, ahead Thanksgiving Rapids & Holiday Falls.  You know it's coming & you can't avoid it, it's inevitable. 

Today is Halloween.  I like what Halloween reminds me of from my childhood.  I love the Great Pumpkin. It's brisk here.  Those poor kids in the northeast US with their Snotober.  I wonder if they can even trick or treat at all in that mess.  Tomorrow's news we'll talk about little Bobby lost somewhere in the snow during his rounds of trick or treating.  A real holiday tragedy.  From here out anytime there's snow on Halloween you'll hear little Bobby pleading for help from with the snow drifts.

So October, it's been nice seeing you again.  You were a good month.  There was pleasant weather & not too much rain.  Only my glasses got broken & not a water heater, oxygen sensor or some other ungodly priced thing.   I even got my glasses fixed today.  Luckily, Lenscrafters didn't charge me for the repair.  I picked up my replacement pair of glasses as well & they'll do fine. 

It's been nice, until next year October.

They've Come Undone...

The earpiece on my glasses finally came apart from the glasses.  Luckily, I have another set & some in the mail.  I called Lenscrafters & will see about taking this pair in tomorrow to get the screw replaced.  Hopefully this won't be much of an ordeal.  

I figured while I was  waiting I could look at Big Lots for some holiday stuff.  My roomie is stuck on the fact we'll be bear the Chinese restaurant we like.    I fall goes well, I'll have my glasses fixed, get some holiday shopping done & get some Chinese food.
