Sunday Pause & Fire Ants...

I don't think we have anything to do today.  It all starts back up tomorrow & runs through the week.  There are several appointments, errands, bills, shopping & car things.  That's probably leaving things out like yard stuff & getting meds.

I've finally started Fall yard stuff.  I was dealing with a bush when I got a surprise.  It was full of fire ants.  They covered my lower left arm.  There are several stings from the elbow down to my hand.  There are a couple on my right side & a sting on the back of my neck.  I hate fire ants.  They serve no purpose here, let them die.

That's all for now, take care.

The Backside Of August...

August is coming to a close soon.  The last week of it & the beginning of September look to be dark & raining.  It was dark this morning & now the downpour is back.  We had 2"+ yesterday.   The mowing will resume & I can see anthills across the yard. Until the rain stops there isn't much I can do about it.

This month has sucked.  The weather was either blazing or dark.  Dry as hell or flooding.  The expensives mounted everyday.  The car was a pain.  There have been very few decent to high points this August.

I'm sick of this, all of it, it's exhausting.  The sound of rain has become an annoyance.  It'd be nice if not everything decided to be some trial or rigged, carnival game.

That's all, take care.

Rougher Than Expected...

Yesterday was harder than I expected it to be.  The temps hopped into the 90s & the humidity was up.  Neighbors mowed in the morning, so my allergies were lit.  My blood pressure was low & leaving me exhausted.  Then after it all should've been done, I had to deal with yard work of our own when the lawn guy showed.   After some spraying & dealing with fire ants, I was just done.  There were issues with my sinuses & digestion.  Due to all of that & my low blood pressure I was spent & shaky for hours afterward.

I really didn't expect yesterday to be that rough.  I overslept & woke up to friend coming to visit my roomie.  It's overcast & my blood pressure is still low.  No meds for that for that until my readings go up quite a bit.  I need today to be better than yesterday.

That's all for now, take care.

Winded & Brief...

There's been a lot of smoke here.  It's not the west coast or anything, but enough to mess with me.  They've been burning junk & leaves.  They've been roasting chilis & having cookouts.  My nose just knows it's smoky.

The lawn guy mowed last night.  I finally got to do some edgework & check for fire ants.  It'd been nearly a month.  It'd either been to hot or wet.  But it's  handled.

With that, I'm exhausted.   I'll catch my breath soon, but for now, I'm done.  Hopefully, I'll feel better after a shower.   At least it's done for now.

Take care.

Fake August...

August has acted late September, maybe even early October.  There've been hot days, but mostly overly warm & muggy.  Bright skies have been outnumbered by overcast.  It rained a lot yesterday, over 1.5".  It's still grey out, but the rain chances have dropped.

When I looked out, I saw mounds.  Fire ants love rain, it softens the ground for them.  So, it was ant patrol.  Of course, Windows had to update.  My morning got burnt again, by non-me stuff.

This morning I hate grey skies, fire ants & damnedable Windows.

Slightly Yuck Morning...

This morning has been sticky & grey.  There's a lot of cloud cover.  I didn't wake up well.  None of us are used to the temperature shifts that come with Summer.    I know Summer is still a month off, but once you've hit 90,  I say Spring is over.  Oklahoma doesn't really do Fall & Spring well anymore.

The fight with fire ants is ongoing.  The mounds are lessening, but still there.  Hopefully, I'll have them mostly dealt with before the serious heat of the season.    I hate having a yard bigger than a walkway/patio.

Not much else going on this morning.  Other than, I'm hoping my neighbor moves soon.  She & her former roommate are being irritating with all their noise & constant yard work. That'll be it for now.

Post Mow...

Yesterday was the 1st mowing of the year.  It was need, but it was pretty awful as well.  With the weird weather & never-ending allergies, the added lawn yuck killed us.   I was already feeling off & that did me in for most the day.  The little cat, Millie, AKA  Camilla, was out of it for the day.  She laid on the floor looking near dead.    She slept with me all night & is still on my bed.  She seems to be a little more with it, but not her normal over-amped self yet.

With the mowing, comes the need for edging.  I hope he comes back soon to handle that or I'll have to.  Yard work is pretty much beyond me now.  I've had to accept that idea.  I went out to clear some grass from around a small rose & it nearly did me in just handling that small bit.  Our enemies, the fire ants, are back.  I've found  almost a dozen small hills so far.  That might be more than I found all Summer last year.   I hope that's not a sign.  We've also got a few fleas off the cats.  I hate fleas.

The yard is mowed & the birds are taking advantage of the short grass.  Bugs are back on the menu.   The pole dancing squirrel was back this morning.  There'll probably be squirrelettes soon.

That's all for now.  Me & the kitten need to recuperate a bit.

Fire In the Yard...

It seems nothing good comes for free.  The rain we had brought some unwanted guests.   When I took out the trash yesterday, I noticed several disturbances in the yard.  They were fire ant mounds.  Much bigger than they would've been without the rain.

I had to dose them yesterday & again this morning.   The stuff we use on them is foul & I do my best not to get near any of it.  Still, it gets to my breathing every time.  Nearly all pesticides do.   My breathing is a bit haggard right now.  It should clear up as the day goes on, but for now this sucks.

I hate fire ants.
