Phone Issues...

This is 1 of the few Tuesday's in weeks we haven't had appointments.  It should've been a nothing morning, but our phones are having an issue of not ringing.  I've been dealing with AT&T for a bit.  Their beginning AI sucks.

I'm waiting for a call back to finish this business with the phones.  I hope this happens soon.  I didn't more crap this morning.  This is why I hate waking up, something is always screwed.

At least it was warmer yesterday.  I guess that's it for now, take care.

Early Dark Appointment...

The forecast doesn't call for rain today, but it's really overcast.   It's pretty dark this morning & I had to be up for an appointment.  The doctors want me to have a screening.  This morning is the initial meet & greet,  then the procedure will be scheduled.

Not the greatest morning.  I'm up early.  It's dark.  I have an appointment.  The 1st of the moth stuff is starting.  I'm waiting to see if  a bank issue I had last month is resolved.   That'll take a few more days.

The phone bill came in & it went up $30. The discount programs I was on (ACP) ended.  That's going to rack up.  Still, AT&T is about the most dependable in my area.  If not, I'd probably be changing.

That's it for this morning, take care.

Bad Options...

This was my last phone bill where I'll get a discount from the assistance program ACP.  No sense in going into detail about ACP since it's over.  The only point is it took $30 off my bill.  The government didn't refinance the program, so it ended.

I'm on AT&T.  It's at the high end for mobile service.  However, it's the only company that keeps good signal & speed nearby.  Most of the time, we could probably deal with another company.  But, when the power or internet goes out, that service is all we have.  That's when the other companies lesser functionality would hurt us.

I found another program, Lifeline.  I  qualified, then  found out  AT&T doesn't handle that discount in my state.  They gave me the option of looking at the lifeline page for providers in my area that did.  I hadn't heard of most of them.   I'd have to drop AT&T & go to some 2nd stringer or worse, some local mickey mouse operation.   Lifeline's discount is $9.25 a month.  I'm not sure less than $10 is worth the risk.

I'll talk to my roomie.  Time to get around for the day.  Take care.

No Reset...

Internet is out, so this is from my phone.   This isn't any fun.  This will have to do for now.  More tomorrow.

July Ugh...

Unless something changes, I doubt the remainder of the month's post will be much of anything.  Articles tend to slow down during this time.  All I'll have to post about is hazy mornings & BS heat.  It's going to be hot this week, that's the forecast.

At least I'm fairly sure about my phone situation.  They posted a pay date on their site.  AT&T is weird.  If this goes as planned, then things might be back to "normal" with them.

Take care.

Still Waiting...

I'm on the phone still trying to find out something about my benefit renewal.  So far, I'm just on hold.  Hopefully, this will get sorted.  I hate this process. Nothing else is going on this morning.  Except for me trying not to die from Spring's sick attempt at humor.

Sorry for the pause.  I was on with the phone about the renewal for 30+ minutes.  It's done & I'm approved for now.  That crap's handled for another year.

That's all I've got, until tomorrow, take care.

Goodbye February...

Goodbye February, you haven't been an easy month in a long time.  Hopefully March will be a little better for us.  I guess we'll see.

My appointment with my primary went fine.  I have a telemedicine appointment on Wednesday.  For now the phone situation seems to be handled.  We won't known entirely for sure until next month.  That'll knock another thing off our to-do list that's been lingering for a while.

That's all for now, take care.

More Drama....

I don't feel well enough for this to be a long post.  There was a lot more phone drama yesterday.  I don't know if it's sorted or not.  We won't until the bills made available.  This was undue stress.  I let it work me up a lot & it trashed me & my stomach.  I felt twitchy, nauseous & exhausted by the time we were home.  Later my stomach was achy & causing a lot of trips to the bathroom.  I feel better so far, but not great.  My stomach's still weird & the bathroom's calling.

Take care.

New Phone...

We got new phones.  It's been something alright.  I'm sure I'll get used to them, but for now, ugh.  I've got to get around, so this will be short.  We have to handle shopping this morning.  It's cold, but at least it's brighter.

That's all for now, take care.

PEP & Steps...

This article is about PEP or post exposure prophylaxis. Another service offered by Planned Parenthood.   It's a good piece & not jargon ridden.  Give it a read.

We ordered new phones yesterday.  They should be here the beginning of next week.  Goodbye old frustrating phones.   It's a step in part of what we wanted to get done.  We're whiddling the list down as we can.

That's about it for now.  Unfortunately, we're in another round of cold, drear for a few days.   Hopefully, it won't last long.  I'm tired of them & all the storms piling through the area during February.

Take care.

So Very Not Good...

It's very dark this morning & I'm not doing well.  I woke more nerved out than I have been in a while.  Everything keeps making demands, breaking, needing & I just can't.  There's been so much going on & so little getting resolved.  I really hate waking up.  It means there's probably something waiting for me.  It's almost always dark.  There are car troubles, furniture issues, phones, health, mailboxes & the list goes on.  I used to think I could handle a couple of them at a time.  Now I'm not so sure, especially when they all happen at once.  Does anything good ever come from waking up?  I'm tired, broken & it seems some of my pieces are missing.

Phones & Debate...

We the new phone is activated.  It's weird & I'm still not sure what to think of it.  It took a while to reenter all of numbers.  The store couldn't communicate with the old phone.  So, contacts had to be entered  manually.  That wasn't fun.  This might be a fine phone, I'm just not used to it yet.  I probably wasn't  fond of the last phone when we 1st got it.   I'll adapt.

The debate about HIV & COVID is ongoing.  They can't make up their minds about how dangerous COVID is for those HIV+.  The latest arguments leaned towards the not good side.  That could change next week.  All we can do is get vaccinated & take reasonable precautions.  I don't have hopes for that.  Condom  usage would've drastically cut back HIV  transmissions.  See how well that went.

That's all for now, take care.

Trash Day Plans...

Newish articles are scant.  There's lots of titles, but most are old news, OpEd or behind paywalls.  This is getting old, but it happens sometimes.

It's Wednesday & almost mid way through the month. We'll handle trash & run some errands.  At some point, we'll handle our phone situation.  We thought about doing it yesterday, but we were still feeling off.  I'm doing better so far this morning.

That's it for this morning.  Take care.

Oh & Handled...

People think they understand HIV & that they get the elderly.  Well, people are still having sex.  This piece discusses the post surgical complications of a man in Spain.   He's in his 80's & is now the oldest newly diagnosed case of HIV.  His CD4 count was so low it put him the AIDS category.  You may not want to think about it, but the seniors are still going at it.

I signed with a new car insurance agency yesterday.   I went with State Farm, but saw no Jake.  I've used  4 online companies.  They all turned out to be unreliable & misrepresented themselves.  Twice they sunset & no longer exist.  Any remainders of the original form were bought by a company I avoid.  Looking at you Farmers.

That's done.  Now, we just have to switch our phones.  That can get handled next week.  Take  care.

Battery Life & Summer...

Summer heat & humidity is a beast.  We don't like it, the cat's retreat, even the appliances complain.   When you can use your car for an oven, it's past unpleasant.  It also takes a toll on our phones.  Too much cold can zap a battery, but not as fast as high temps & humidity.  It's easier to heat something up than cool it down.  Right now, phone battery life is unpredictable.

This seems unrelated to HIV.  When you're + & on a restricted income, everything impacts your situation.  Every detail can become a stressor.    There's no such thing as stress-free.   Life doesn't work that way, especially not for the ill or poor.

A constant challenge in our life is keeping things running.  I'm not a hoarder, we have most of what we need.  There are things that could make life easier, but mostly it just comes down to funds to maintain where we're at & not sliding backwards.

So Far...

So far this morning is going alright.  Nothing big & I can live with that.  I don't need all the highs & lows.

My roomie's phone just needed a new sim card.  They replaced it & the phone works.   I'm glad.  We'll eventually have to replace these phones.  Still, I'd rather do it, because we chose to than we were forced to for whatever reason.  We find ourselves in that position far too often.

The last Tuesday of May is a nothing day & I'm fine with that.  May hasn't been a bad month.  It's been fairly neutral.  Which beats horrible any day.  Doesn't look like we'll make our monthly rain totals, but we hardly do any more.  Maybe June will be wetter.

Not A Great Morning....

I woke up tired, sore & anxious.  I planned on going to bed earlier last night, but that didn't happen.  About the time I was heading off to my room, the electricity went out.   There went the fans to deal with the overnight humidity.  I looked outside & the power company was already at the pole.  They'd caused the outage, to replace a transformer.  It only affected 6 houses, but they couldn't be bothered to knock & warn people.  It didn't last long, but it was time I could've been asleep.

During this, my roomie told me her phone has "no service."  When the lights came back on, I called ATT.   They tried to reset the phone.  It didn't work.  They think the sim card is dead.  They're supposed provide a replacement.   Hopefully, the ATT store will be open today or that will have to wait until tomorrow.  Here's hoping I don't have to completely replace it.  I'm sure my roomie's sort of hoping that's the case.  She has no love for these phones.

I'll find out in a bit, what will happen to the phone.  Then I have to go shopping.   This was not a good night.

Article Anger...

I saw an article earlier & it pissed me off.  For several years, some researchers have been looking into & blaming cell phones for HIV transmission rates among mobile users.   They've blamed everything from hook-up apps, dating sites to sexting.  They target these things & cell phones for making access to sex easier.

BS!!!

What is hindering the fight against HIV is the lack of education & awareness regarding HIV & the risky behaviors that can lead to it.  That's on schools, politicians, religious figures & parents.

Cell phone technology has actually aided in the fight against HIV.  They're used for texting med regimens reminders, appointments scheduling, support groups etc...  Smart phones are being used in medical monitoring & testing procedures, including HIV.   Sometimes, medical appointments in remote areas are being held over Facetime.

Stop blaming tech for people's behaviors.   Stop blaming cell phones for people having sex.  What's next, you blame cars because they drove somewhere for sex?
