This is a odd piece. It poses that lentiviruses, the kind of virus which includes HIV, have been around millions of years. Studies of lemurs, rabbits, rodents & other animals have shown traces of these viruses in the animals' systems. Even though present, the viral agent isn't affecting them negatively. At some point, these animals adapted to the presence of the virus. Now we study a similar virus in monkeys, SIV. All of this may lead to a better understanding of this viral family & how to come to terms with HIV. Will we overcome it? Or, will we adapt to it, to the point it's no longer harmful?
Interesting read, give it a go. take care.
