This article is looking at an association between NRTI HIV drugs & a decrease of Alzheimer’s disease numbers. This study is in early days & is very limited. The researcher reviewed 20+ years of medical records of people 50+, who were taking these meds for HIV, PrEP or hepatitis. These records were from the Veterans Health Administration Database. It's worth noting these records were mostly of men.
At a glance these meds did seem to impact Alzheimer's incidence. However there is much more that needs to be known before this can be considered a viable avenue for prevention. Add to that many of these medications are very old & come with a host of side effects, issues, costs & other reactions. Still, it's a novel start in a new direction.
Next up, my dentist office is closing. I'm not happy about this. I've been going to this place since about 2008. Another keystone place I had is gone. I'll never be in that building again. I liked that place, it was comfortable, easy to get to, attractive & very nature oriented. You could look a their garden during your appointment. You'd see a host of birds, squirrels & some other beasties from time to time. The dentist that got me on this journey left some time back, then the receptionist, then my hygienist. Now the whole building will be gone & I'm starting all over. I hate this, but nobody asked my opinion. This was my last solid place left. Hopefully, the new place will be nice.
At least my cleaning went well. Take care.
Cya...
