Snippet Ire...

If you've read my blog, you'll know that consistently finding good info on HIV & its current state of affairs can be difficult.  Ever since the last presidential election, those articles have become more scarce.

An old problem is becoming more common, snippets.  These things aren't even briefs or abstracts.  Those are at least supposed to synapse an article well enough for you to know if you wish to proceed.  These are at most 2 - 3 sentences.  On top of that, the main article is usually behind a paywall.   You're expected to pay for this article, mostly unseen, with just a suggestion of what it is.  It could be great, rubbage or just click-bait.

The world has started to hoard information again.  By making knowledge about HIV or other diseases pay-only, you're limiting people's ability to understand the issue(s) & how to stay safe/healthy.

I'll never pay for a snippet.  If I can find away around the paywall, I might.  But these people won't get a cent out of me for info about a disease that affects the public.  I'm not expecting corporate secrets, but info on such  social matters & health affairs shouldn't be held for ransom.
