This article is about some of the issues being a long term HIV survivor. It's a worthwhile read. I like that they stress all these journeys are different.
June 5th, is HIV Long Term Survivor Day. Being in this groups may be the hardest thing about HIV. It affects every part of your life, especially social. Personal contact something most long termers say they've lost & miss.
Other than my roomie, IRL, I don't have any contact on a consistent basis. If it weren't for that, dealing with HIV wouldn't be worth it. There's no point for a lot of these people to fight HIV & just face being alone. Either of those is a lot, but both, well that just wouldn't be worth the fight.
For those out there not +; get tested, get educated, use a condom. Be as safe as possible. You're the only person that's going to keep you alive.
