A while back I blogged hospitals in the USA were finally going to start organ transplants involving HIV+ organs to + recipients. It was announced John Hopkins would be the 1st to do so. According to this article, doctors at John Hopkins announced yesterday they had performed the 1st + to + transplants. This consisted of a liver & a kidney from a single donor to 2 recipients.
This is astounding news. It will mean + people will be more likely to receive transplants & these newly available organs will improve organ availability for all in need. This is a tremendous step.
