Alleged Last & The End...

Today is supposed to be the last day of this hot streak, we'll see.   I'm not upset about it, it's July & almost  August.  Even with these temps, we've handled it. The problem has been the humidity hasn't gone down at all.  At night, someone is burning something foul.  It smells like a cross between pot & petroleum.  It's made breathing awkward.

This is the last day of July,  goodbye month.    I have no gripes about you.   I hope you do at  least this well next year.  Today is also the last day with my Metlife insurance & tomorrow I have Jake from State Farm.  I probably won't go back online for insurance  again.  Any benefit I had with that in the beginning faded.

So long July, you can take your hot weather with  you.   Until next year.   Take care.

Uggh Morning...

Neighbors have had some roofing & other work going  on for a bit.  I understand why they're starting early, but it keeps waking me.  Early this morning, there was a loud, metallic, crash.  It woke me &  I couldn't figure out what it was.  I barely got any sleep after that.   I'm wishing bad things on these workers.  May they find all the wasps.

I need to get a shower.  We have to go shopping & I need to hit the pharmacy.  That's all for now.  Hope you have a better morning.

PS  -  To all of those people out there, who could but refuse to get vaccinated  for COVID, die already.  Stop endangering everyone else.

Decisions...

Since the beginning of the fight against HIV, the fundamental problems have been that the wrong  people were making the wrong decisions for the wrong reasons.  It's that simple, only it isn't.

Any decision made concerning healthcare issues should  take into account the patients needs entirely;  physical, emotional, social, cultural, psychological & financial.  These decisions should be made by medical  professionals, caseworkers, social works, etc... & the patient.   Any decision should be made in unison as often as possible.  Any option chosen should be selected because it was the best  available.

However, these decisions are being made by greedy pharma corps, bureaucrats, zealots & the uninformed.  Instead of being based in the interest of the patients, these decisions are being made out greed, fear, hate & ignorance.   The war against  HIV goes on because it feeds some people's darker natures.

Any decision made about treatment that isn't entirely handled by a team of healthcare professionals & the patient, will always be dubious at best.   It's that simple.  It has been from the beginning.

My dental cleaning went fine.  But the hygienist I'd seen for years retired.  I'm down to 1 individual that  was in the office when I started.  It's not a good feeling.  They could've at least told me before I arrived.  Take care.

Too Late...

It would seem that the brat rapper, Dababy, has figured out how bad he screwed himself with his anti-HIV & anti-Gay commentary at his concert.  At 1st, he was calling anyone commenting about, internet bitches.  Now he's apologizing for his HIV comments, but not the rest.  He says, everyone misinterpreted his meaning.  Oh, sure Jan.

This is nothing but an attempt to walk back from his statements while still trying to save his face.  It's not  working.  If the only way you can make a  living is by attacking others, there's always a chance it could blow up in your face.   I'd love to say he'd grow from this, but I doubt it.

That's all for now.  I have a dental cleaning in a bit & I need to get  ready.   Take care.

Florida...

I had an uncle who lived in Orlando.  When I was younger, I loved going there.  Florida was so different than Oklahoma.  It  had beaches, places to see wildlife we didn't have & of course Disney World.  I loved that  place  as a kid.   I don't know if I was too young to see the real Florida or if the state  did a hateful pivot when I got older.  Now they're like an angrier, more billegerant Oklahoma turned up to 11.

They have Oklahoma's worst traits amplified; bad weather, humidity,  hateful republicans, angry religious people, backwards policies, etc...  The beaches have  gone to seed due  to  pollution & climate change.  The theme parks are too expensive.  I'm over my fascination with their wildlife.  It may be the worst state to be HIV+.  It's among the worse for COVID.  It's probably all going to be underwater  in 20 years.

Radically, conservative christians & republicans have slaughtered the dream of Florida.  Then replaced it with a nightmare reality.  Every radical republican & religious nut should be forced to march them & never leave.  It's no surprise hateful politicians, TV slobs & rappers love the place.

Sometimes I wish Disney was wrong & it wasn't a small world.  I'd really like more space between those people & myself.  Take care.

They're Surprised...

Yesterday I wrote people laying out basic HIV info like it was new.  This knowledge is 4 decades old.  If people don't have it by now, they're never going to get it.

I saw 2 articles this morning, 1 was a serious duh & the other should be a wake up call, but it won't be.  The 1st piece talked about how pediatric HIV care in Africa wasn't on par with the rest of the world.  Well, Duh!  Very little on that continent is on par with any thing else in the world.  They do violence & human rights violations very well.  Should we clap  for  that?   Africa is a troubled place.  But, at  some point, we're going to  have  to  accept outsiders won't be the people to fix those problems.

2nd, a pissy rapper, Dababy, decided to trash gays & HIV+ people in his show.  He's a needy little,  attention starved, bastard.  But people, this is nothing new.  The levels of hate in rap against a lot of people, especially Gays, is old news.  OMG, a rapper was  an asshat,  who'd a thought it?  Rap  has been a vehicle for a lot of messages, including hate.  A lot of rappers are notoriously anti-gay.  At least until they're found  trading tea in a a park stall.

People, the info is there & has been there.  Learn it & stop being surprised.  Take care,

1st Early Heat...

Yesterday was the 1st day we had to turn the AC on early.  It was hot, it would've been easier if not for the high humidity.  We're at that point in the season where it keeps threatening to rain, but doesn't.  The humidity just sits on the area like a wet blanket.

I saw an article this morning.  It irritated me.  All the info was accurate.  It  promoted awareness, safer sex practices, getting tested, etc...  None of  that is bad, except for the fact, the article presented this info like it was new & novel.  Not like it was 40 year old knowledge.  Things like this make me think HIV is never coming to  an end.

Take care.

Summer...

It took until the last third of July, but Summer arrived.    It got hot yesterday & it looks to stay that way.  Maybe some of this humidity will burn off & it'll dry out.  It's time to kill the grass & bugs.  I woke to a warm morning, but at least it was bright.  Dealing with SAD is difficult enough, but handling this year with COVID & an absentee Summer has not been easy.

That's it for today.  Articles were sketchy.   Take care & have a good Summer.

Not Looking Forward...

My roomie is looking forward to a movie coming this Fall.  I used to do that a lot.  There are things I note the day of their arrival but I don't really have the anticipation I used to have.  I don't know if it's I'm just disconnected  from what's being produced or that I have so much dread of the way it will be handled.  For, whatever reason, I just don't get that excited for much these days.

There have been several franchises & properties brought to screen that I should've loved.  However, the makers altered  these things so much I couldn't stand them.  Sometimes, it was to make the older property more palatable to modern sensibilities.   Others, the product was just cheap &/or bad.  Then you have those  makers that  just want to make their mark on a beloved icon.  Those people, well all the above, should be shot.  Those people should've just made something new & left the original alone.

There are covers, tributes & bastardizations.  Tributes are  just remakes clinging as close as possible to the original.  They're  sweet, but don't really need to  be produced.  They add nothing to the story.  Covers take the concept & add to it.  They further the work without sacrificing the original.  Unfortunately, these days bastardizations by egotistical, needy little  cretins seem to be the most common.  Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a good example.

These people have made me dread when something I used to love is being remade.  I despise most of the cartoon remakes of my favorites that  have happened in the last 5 years.  I've hated movies they've altered from the original just to make a better sale.  I have no connection to these newer pieces.  Then they insult people by telling us to just get over it & that these things weren't made for people like me.  Some of these things are the only reason I'm still here & I hate everyone who helped  take them from me.  May that which they love be corrupted for the entertainment of others.

I still find things I like & they are nice little gifts.  They surprised me.  But I don't wait in anticipation of things anymore.  I  think that may gone for me.  For that, I'm angry & sad.  Some movies & shows I loved so much that they got me through my hard times have been to the point I can't even look at them.  I wish these people nothing but utter rot.  Rot of  everything in their lives, especially that which they held dearest.

Rant's over, take care.  I hope you still  have  things  to look forward to.

Aggressive Nature Smells...

Last time the yard was mowed, it stunk.  It'd gotten high seedy after the rain.  The air has smelled off ever since.  We're still getting whiffs of yucky yard aroma.

Yesterday, the city cut down a tree across from us.   A couple of weeks earlier it was green.  Then everything turned brown & leaves starting falling.  There was an occasional cracking sound.  I don't know if age, pests, disease or lightning got it, but it's gone now.  That tree was at least 40 & probably a lot older.   It's sad to see it gone.

Now, it like the yard are attacking my nose.  I  suppose they deserve some retribution.  But, my sinuses hate it.

Company, Trash & Errands...

We're supposed to have people over today.  My roomie's friend & her daughter are stopping by for a bit.  They used to see each a lot more, but COVID stopped that for quite a while.   We also have to deal with trash & run some errands later.

The lawn guy came yesterday.  The mowing stunk.   I'm not sure what was in that grass, but it wasn't pleasant.  I was going to deal with some edging & yard stuff this morning while it was cooler.  The humidity was so high, the grass was sparkling with dew.  I'll have to wait until it dries out some.  I might  get part of it handled later.

That's all for now.   It's sort of a busy day for us.  Take care.

Box Issues...

Spent a bit of yesterday hunting for a new litter box.  We're not sure how,but the flip lid on this box broke.     It's weirdly hard to buy a decent cat box for under $50 these days.  This box was under $20 just a couple of years ago, now it's over $30.  Finally found  something & discovered Walmart's online site no longer accepts Paypal.   That was irritating.

That's handled  & we look to be done with the rain  for a while.  It's supposed to get hot.  As long as it's dry, it can get a little hotter & be fine.  That's all for now, take care.

Another Dreary Morning in July...

Drear should not exist in July.  Sweltering heatlines yes, but there shouldn't be any dismal greys.  This dark cloud of humidity is wrecking my Summer light.  I don't need a mega hot season, but I'd like a bright Summer.  We've never had enough good light, long enough, for me to get past the time change.  That was months ago & I've normally adapted in a week or so.  Not this is year.

Unfortunately, this like a lot of things bothering my life are beyond my control.   There's nothing I can do about the weather.  I just really can't live with it well either.   Better days to everyone else, take care.

Rain...

The last couple of days have either been dark, dreary & humid or filled with downpours & gusting thunderstorms.  Today looks to be the same.  We've  had over 4" of rain before last night & postings in our area say it's rained between 1.5 - 3+" since midnight.  That doesn't count what we might get later in the  day.  We could end this with over 8" of rain in 3 days.  There are flood warnings.  This is supposed to be the last day of it.  We more than met July's rain average.

OK rain, it was nice to see you, but I'm sure you have other places to visit.

Endings...

Sometimes things linger far after they should've ended.  We're in Summer, but it's acting like a hot, humid, dreary Spring.  We've had so few actual bright, summery days.   It's like Spring never really let go.

My roomie reads a lot of fantasy works.  Sometimes they're short & to the point, others ramble.  But, sometimes, there are those well developed pieces that are actual stories.  There's a beginning, middle & end.  There's plot & character development.  But most of all, the author thought enough of their work to give it a proper conclusion.  Stories need endings or else they're just aimless musings.  That cheapens them a bit.

Comics can be do this as well. Some of the best comics I've read have been short-run titles.    There  are points when even major titles feel like zombie  versions of themselves just trudging on because of habit.  Endings can make works stronger.

Sometimes we have endings we didn't ask for or want.  Sometimes those are very serious, others are angering, or just really annoying.  Over the past  couple of years,  they've cancelled TV shows I actually liked.  It pissed me off & now I'm having a hard time  getting into much of anything TV wise.

This month will mark the end of my insurance with my current carrier.  They're ending their business.  I had no choice in the matter.  I've found other coverage, but it wasn't my choice.  AT&T basically forced new phones on us.  We were planning on new phones, but  on our timeline, not theirs.  Both of these endings were manageable, but unwanted.

Endings must happen, even if things just stop.  But things deserve a proper goodbye.  That's it for now, take care.

Mid Friday In July...

It's another weirdly dark morning.   It was supposed to rain last night.  I guess it's waiting until I'm out shopping.  This strange, too humid, not hot enough weather is hard on me.   I need more heat & light to  burn off this humidity.  Even if we need the AC, at least it'll be dry & well lit.

We're going shopping in a bit.  Nothing much else is planned for today. I'm still getting used to the new phone.  That's all for now, I need to go shower.  Take care.

Phones & Debate...

We the new phone is activated.  It's weird & I'm still not sure what to think of it.  It took a while to reenter all of numbers.  The store couldn't communicate with the old phone.  So, contacts had to be entered  manually.  That wasn't fun.  This might be a fine phone, I'm just not used to it yet.  I probably wasn't  fond of the last phone when we 1st got it.   I'll adapt.

The debate about HIV & COVID is ongoing.  They can't make up their minds about how dangerous COVID is for those HIV+.  The latest arguments leaned towards the not good side.  That could change next week.  All we can do is get vaccinated & take reasonable precautions.  I don't have hopes for that.  Condom  usage would've drastically cut back HIV  transmissions.  See how well that went.

That's all for now, take care.

Trash Day Plans...

Newish articles are scant.  There's lots of titles, but most are old news, OpEd or behind paywalls.  This is getting old, but it happens sometimes.

It's Wednesday & almost mid way through the month. We'll handle trash & run some errands.  At some point, we'll handle our phone situation.  We thought about doing it yesterday, but we were still feeling off.  I'm doing better so far this morning.

That's it for this morning.  Take care.

I was busy trying to find something out this morning & nearly forgot to blog.  My roomie & I still aren't feeling that well.  This will be short.  We have run some errands in a bit.  My plans for today are to eat  something, handle errands & try not to get ill again.  We might be able to handle that, we'll see.

$$$ Wall...

It happened again.  I found several  potential articles.  But each piece was hidden behind a paywall.  Most of the time, I can see a paragraph or the edges.  This might let me know if it's worth looking for elsewhere.  These were completely concealed & didn't even allow a slight peek.  I understand paywalls, but I still hate them when it comes to health & wellness matters.

No articles for today, just complaints.  I've got to get cleaned up & go shopping.   It's time to start the week.   With any luck, this won't be too annoying. Take care.

Humid Weather...

The humid heat got to me.  I barely did anything yesterday.  It wasn't that hot, but the humidity was awful.  It or something wrecked my stomach & wore me out.  We'll have to adjust our eating for a while.

It stormed last night & cooled us off quite a bit.  Today is supposed to be cooler.  I don't mind the heat, as long as the humidity is low.  High humidity is something you have to experience to really understand.  It's horrible & can suck the life out of you.

That's all for now, take care.

Full Week...

It's a bit dreary.  It's supposed to rain later in the day.  Which means it won't rain until tonight & the today will be a humid mess.   Oh well, nothing I  can do about that.

The 1st  full week of July is ending.  We got through it.  But some of us are showing our asses.  To all the asshat Okies out there that refuse to get vaccinated, just shoot yourself already.  Stop dragging everyone else down with you.  A few weeks ago we were around 900 cases in the state, now we're  in the 2K range.  You can always count on conservative Oklahomans to be idiots.

Rants over.  We handled our stuff for the week.  I'll try to handle phone stuff this week.  There are more hummers, dragons & bunnies.  Hopefully, this COVID stuff will get back on track soon.  Take care.

Late Presenting...

This piece deals with late presenting HIV.  There are a lot of articles over this.  If you're interested Google it.  I was late presenting & for whatever reason a lot  people have been HIV+ for quite a while before their diagnosis.  This can alter treatments & recovery.  It took me a decade to have  a CD4 count not in the 200's.  It was another 5 years before I had a count over 400.  Now, it stays near upper 500's to 600's.

Even though they feel my HIV is under control. I never  feel that well.  I'm  usually at some level of exhaustion or  fatigue.  I constantly  deal with issues from the meds, usually GI problems.  Early diagnosis & treatment, may have meant a more normal life for me.  The same is true for anyone else diagnosed late.

Testing is important.   It  should be  done often.  You can't treat what you don't know.

Oh & Handled...

People think they understand HIV & that they get the elderly.  Well, people are still having sex.  This piece discusses the post surgical complications of a man in Spain.   He's in his 80's & is now the oldest newly diagnosed case of HIV.  His CD4 count was so low it put him the AIDS category.  You may not want to think about it, but the seniors are still going at it.

I signed with a new car insurance agency yesterday.   I went with State Farm, but saw no Jake.  I've used  4 online companies.  They all turned out to be unreliable & misrepresented themselves.  Twice they sunset & no longer exist.  Any remainders of the original form were bought by a company I avoid.  Looking at you Farmers.

That's done.  Now, we just have to switch our phones.  That can get handled next week.  Take  care.

A Little Strange...

Starting over can always be weird with anything.  You're not sure if what things will be like this time around.    I can get this way about anything from places I used to  go, TV shows I watched last season, places I eat, etc...  My roomie had guests over yesterday & it's 1 of the few times she's been around more than 1 other person at a time.  It was probably strange & a bit tense.  Luckily, the visit seemed to have gone well.  Thanks for for the social weirdness COVID.

Speaking of, our numbers were going down.  We were under a 1,000 cases.  Now, due to variants, vaccine refusers & idiots; numbers are rising.  We're over 2,000 cases.  Line those damn asshats up  & jab'em.   I'm tired of worrying about COVID.

That's all for now, take care.

Nice Morning...

I don't get a lot of these anymore, so I thought I should acknowledge them.  We've had a few nice mornings  now.  It's been fairly bright & a good temp.   It hasn't been overcast & rainy.  There've  been lots of birds, rabbits & squirrels.  Not so lucky with the  dragons & hummers.  But there have been some lightning bugs.

This will be short.  There weren't many articles & my roomie is having a friend over soon.  I'll get around. so whatever needs to get handled, can.

Take care & have a good day.

Post Holiday Monday...

The remainder of the monthly bill stuff would normally get handled today.  But, the holiday is being observed today by many businesses.  Those things will have to wait until later this week.

My roomie has plans for tomorrow.  We have to get our phones handled soon.  AT&T is updating them to be compatible with their new systems.  I have  to handle car insurance this month.  Then I have a dentist appointment the end of the month.  I think that's it  for July.

I hope everyone had a  good holiday.   Take  care.

The 4th...

The 4th of July is here, so enjoy it. Have your cookouts, play your music, set off your fireworks.  Then kindly put that stuff  away for a while.  People have be doing it for  over a week.  The novelty is gone.

I'm not normally such a gripe about this. But this year, the fireworks are really getting to my breathing.   They smell slightly different than they usually do.  I wonder if they changed  them or if I'm just reacting to them worse than usual?   I don't know.  Either way, my nose needs this stuff to go away.

Enough griping.  Have a happy holiday.  Take care.

1st Friday In July...

The fireworks  going off is only reason I know it's the 1st weekend of July.  The weather is weird, wet & cloudy.   This isn't our normal Summer weather.  I  appreciate  the  coolness, not the humidity.    It's  like wearing a luke-warm, wet towel.

We have to go shopping this morning.   Tomorrow will start the 1st of the month stuff.  I'm expecting some stuff in the mail today.  We'll see, the mail's  been off for a while now.

That's all for now, have a good weekend.

Hello July...

Well,  it's July 1st.  It should be bright, but it's not.  It's overcast & muggy.  It's only 80, but at 80% humidity, it feels foul.  It  didn't  get that hot yesterday, but we had to turn on the AC.  Fireworks, humidity & mowing made it hard to breathe well.

I did a bit of edge work on the yard this morning.  It wore me out.  I'll be OK in a while, but for now I'm a little trashed.  That's it for me today, take care.

Cya...

PS - Hello July, please be better than June.
