Goodbye April...

Whole Lotta Rain...
It rained a lot. According to the sites, including 1 that's usually overly conservative, we had over 3.5" of rain. We've already had over .5" since midnight. The rain is supposed to end by early afternoon. By that point, this system will have dumped over 4" of rain on the local area. Other areas got a lot more. They also had tornadoes, wind damage & up to softball size hailstones. There might be some local flooding, but it sounds like we got off light.
Other than that, there's nothing going on here. We had several power blips last night. Trash went out. That's about it for us, take care.

Dark & Rainy...
Yesterday was gloomy & it started raining late in the evening. The lawn guy came & mowed. We lost internet & cable for hours last night. The net is still a little weird. So, this will be short. It's still raining & looks to keep it up throughout tomorrow. There could be up to 3". It probably won't rain that much, but there's a chance. Hello flooding.

Fluff...
Maybe, it's because we're at the end of the month, but I saw a lot of fluff pieces this morning. There were oped's, personal stories, rehashes, condemnations, etc... But no newer pieces over research or development or even funding.
My appointment went OK yesterday, nothing new to report. It looks like the rain will start again soon. The rest of the month looks gloomy. It's possible we could be done with the overnights in the 40s. That'd be great. As it is, it's a game of what's going to be on the bed tonight? Will we need a fan? Will I need an extra cover? I'd like to get all my cold weather stuff washed & put away for the season.
That's all for now, take care.

Appointment...
I'm up early & wish I wasn't. I have a doctor's appointment shortly. I didn't see any articles this morning. It's supposed to get warm today. Too bad, it'll be cloudy. There are rain chances until Friday, great another wet, gloomy week. April is sucking.
That's all, take care.

Sunny...
Another short post, but at least it's a sunny morning. The temps are supposed to warm up to a seasonal norm. That'll be nice. We had nearly 3" of rain this weekend. I have a doctor appointment tomorrow morning & then we'll go shopping. I wondering how long it will be before my doctor announces his retirement. A couple of years ago that would of freaked me out. Now, it'll just be an inconvenience. I used to be able to say I at least had a good doctor & mechanic in this town. I can no longer say that. Things have seriously gone done hill.

OK Well Rain Then...
I'm not sure what hit us yesterday, but neither of us felt well. This system of rain moved through like a bulldozer. It's heading to the southeast. We got between 1 - 2", other places got more. At least we only had rain, some places had severe weather.
We wound up going to bed early & woke up to more rain. It's supposed to end soon. By then it could be between 2 - 3". I'm glad it fell over hours & we don't have to go anywhere this morning. There's bound to be flooding.
This needs to clear up & get back to sunny weather. I need some light. Take care.

More Rain Maybe....
Another gloomy morning & it looks like more rain is coming. There weren't any interesting articles, so this will be short post. I need to get a shower & get around. We have to go shopping. Maybe, we can get back in before the rain starts.
Take care & have a great weekend.

Meh Morning...
Again, it's chilly & overcast. April has been very stingy with the sunlight. I'm not quite cold enough to need a jacket, but close. I'm setting in front of bright lights trying to wake up. It's not going so well. I hate dreary mornings. I didn't see anything new in the articles this morning. I'm running late & have things to do. More tomorrow, take care.

Upticks...
For a while, I've noticed articles over how the COVID pandemic might affect HIV; testing & treatment. I won't cite any of them, they're all expressing the same concerns.
Since the pandemic, the way HIV clinics & pharmacies have operated has been altered & limited. Some found it difficult to obtain medications. Others couldn't get to doctors for appointments or testing. This included people yet to be tested & diagnosed. This has allowed upticks in HIV cases.
The pandemic has allowed a window for HIV to regain ground. Perhaps as the pandemic is beginning to get handled these matters can be managed. Any disruption in the fight against HIV will only favor the virus.
That's all for now. Take care.

Let's See...
I'm not going to post much this morning. After Blogger ate yesterday's post, I'm going to see if this entry sticks. There isn't much going on this morning. I'm not happy about the possibility of being below freezing tonight. It's less than 2 weeks from May & we're looking at an overnight temp in the upper 20s. Spring is trying to kill us this year. I feel sorry for the gardeners.
Take care.

Another Disappearing Post...
I did a post this morning. I have no idea where it went. This is the 2nd time this has happened. Not sure what's going on with Blogger. Any way, it was another Monday & we went shopping. Our yard has a bunny gang in it for the time being. They're fun to watch. That's about it for now, more tomorrow.

Off Week...
For 4 days now, I've woke to gloomy, rain ridden skies. I was feeling it yesterday, but this morning has been rough on me. There's not much sign of rain in the forecast for a bit, but there's also no sign of sunshine. Spring is sucking at the moment. This weird light is throwing off my sleep. I'm having a problem waking up. It looks like the rest of the month will be fairly dreary, cooler & wet. April is becoming a suckfest.

Mid April Updates...
During normal years, this would be tax day. For some tax date is now mid May. I didn't notice much in the way of articles. The only thing of importance were pieces discussing how Biden is trying to refund HIV programs tRump gutted.
Updates for us. We're supposedly fully vaccinated against COVID. It's been 2 weeks since our final dose. Here's hoping that works. I think the van issues are handled for now. Yay & without a mechanic. Trash is gone, brush is hauled off & the rain might be over for a bit.
That's about it for now. Take care.

Rainy Morning...
It rained all night & looks to throughout the day. We need the rain, but we got a lot last night. We don't need any flooding. It'd be nice if some of the pollen got washed away. That probably won't be the case.
More articles are coming our over Moderna's vaccine research. At the moment, the company is having to keep up with COVID. They said they could begin using their techniques to research new flu vaccines & possibly even a HIV vaccine by late 2021. We'll see how that goes.
That's it for now. I'll need to see if the van starts today. Here's hoping. Take care.

Car Drama Again...
There's some drama with the van. It didn't want to start yesterday. It was either call AAA, the mechanic or try to jump it. I don't have the best of luck with jumping cars, but it worked this morning. Now, I need to go drive this thing for a while. Hopefully, this will work & hold. I hate car drama.

2nd April Monday...
This month's been a bit rough. We had 1st of the month stuff. Then there was benefit renewal time. We had our 2nd COVID vaccine shot. On top of that, it's been windy & pollen ridden. April's not been horrible, but it could ease up quite a bit.
We're heading out shopping soon, so this is it. Take care.

Yesterday Me...
Yesterday's me got productive & tried to do me in. There are 3 winter bushes along the front porch. They're evergreen & have red berries during the Winter. I don't trim these when I prune the other shrubs. Birds, squirrels & other things hide in them & eat the berries during the cold months. I trim these bushes in early Spring, so they have half a year to come back.
They didn't grow well last year, nothing did around here. They were sparse & spindly. What leaves & berries were on them got taken out by ravenous little beasties & that last cold snap froze some the smaller branches off. They needed clipped & I did it.
It was done fairly easily. The clippings from all 3 bushes were less than I'd normally get from 1. I got them cut & the branches moved to the curb. Then it began.
My body has been in revolt ever since. My allergies went ballistic. My arms were shaky for hours. I'm sore & my breathing is still a little off from all the debris. I'll get over this. Yesterday's, proactive me should've come with a warning for the me today.

Vaccine Points...
Yesterday was a full week out from the 2nd dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. I'm glad to have gotten it. However, at least in my case, they amazingly undersold the reactions.
After several hours, the 1st dose was like having a bad cold or light flu. There were aches, exhaustion, slight fever, dragginess... It was like that for about a day & then it took about 3 days to be completely normal. A little over a week later, I develop COVID arm, it lasted a few days.
The 2nd dose was a lot more intense. I was very tired later that day. By late morning, the next day, it felt like a bad case of the flu; chills, pain, aches, fever, exhaustion, distraction... That lasted fairly intensely for 3 days. It tapered off, but it took a full week to feel close to normal. The exhaustion & soreness lasted the longest. I haven't redeveloped COVID arm yet.
That was my experience with the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. Take care.

No Vacuums...
Nothing exists in a vacuum. Some people wonder how researchers came up with a vaccine for COVID so quickly. The answer, it wasn't done quickly. It was based off of decades of research in virology, immunology & successful vaccination approaches.
A lot of previous research into a vaccine for HIV was applied to COVID. According to this piece, now the reverse maybe true. Moderna jumped off of previous vaccine research, including HIV. Now that same approach is being applied to HIV.
The article is by no means complete, but it's an interesting start. Point A may have led to Point B. That doesn't mean B doesn't have something to offer & strengthen A's stance. Which in turn might bolster B or lead to Point C. That's research. The methods may be exacting & precise, but sometimes the outcomes are anything but.
It's a good read. Take care.

A Little Bit Of Normal...
My roomie's friend has a birthday tomorrow. She used to go visit this friend at least bi-weekly. She hasn't been able to much of anything with her friend in over a year. They'd see each other outside for a bit. Now that they've both been vaccinated, they decided for the friend's birthday, they'd spend the day together. That may be the biggest present people can give each other at the moment, their presence.
Take care.

Pain & Tingling...
For the past couple of years I've been dealing foot issues, numbness & pain. I dealt with gout before that, but this is different. This piece is about HIV+ people who deal with back pain & peripheral issues. I have both.
Problem is; I'm my age, I had a stroke, I had a reaction to statins, I'm HIV+, I'm overweight, I'm on HIV meds... Any or all of these could be the culprit. So far, the only thing they seemed to have somewhat elementated was the stroke.
The articles a decent read. It may be a starting point for some. The best I can do is keep as active as I can & manage it as needed. That's it for now.

Trees Please...
Someone should talk to these trees about an abstinence only approach. Kidding, but damn, these trees have been dropping pollen since early February & it's getting rough. We're into Spinal Tap territory today. According to pollen.com, we'll be in the high zone today at 11. After this year, this Winter, the vaccination... that's just rough.
It's finally getting warmer, the blanket washing & winter shrub trimming can commence. It's not a fast process, but it doesn't need to be. It just needs to get done.
That's about it for now. Nothing much going at the moment. Which is a good thing. Take care.

Mostly Normal...
It only took 3 days, but I mostly feel normal this morning. I might feel better if it wasn't so overcast. Still, I seem to be over most of the immediate reactions to the COVID vaccination. That was a very rough ride. There's a possibility that this could wind up being like the flu shot & need an annual vaccination. I hope not. Still, I'd rather go through the last few days, then wind up in the hospital.
If you haven't, get vaccinated as you can in your area. Remember, today is cheap, chocolate Monday. Take care.

Happy Easter...
It's Easter & good hunting to all. May licorice & black jellies stay far from your basket. I hope it's a good day for all. We need a holiday, a renewal.
It's the beginning of the 3rd day post vaccination shot. So far, I'm feeling better. I hope it holds. It has not been an easy ride. They really glossed over the impact of those reactions. Maybe they weren't as bad for other people.
Oh well, it's done. Take care & Happy Bunny Day.

WTF Next Day...
The longer yesterday went on, the worse I felt. They said there might be fevers, aches, chills. That was an outstanding undersell. At least for me. I spent much of yesterday achy, feverish & under covers. I didn't want to eat & I couldn't get warm. Even the idea of watching TV sounded like it was beyond me.
It's a new day. I don't feel as bad. But, I don't feel good.
That's it for now, take care.

Round 2 ...

Fool's Day...
It's April. Hopefully things will be nice, pleasant & as mostly stress free. Trash left on the last day of March & now it' a new month. We will head out in a bit to get our 2nd COVID vaccination. Hopefully that goes well. We don't need complications.
It was in the 30s overnight & will be again tonight. It's supposed to be in the 40s for a couple nights & then on the 50s. I'd love to be rid of these cooler temps. Then I can wash & stow a lot of blankets. I've been thinking that could start for over a month.
Hello April. That's it for now, take care.
